The Himalayas

Amidst splendid beauty, the Himalayas also exhibit geological instability, ecological sensitivity, and economic underdevelopment. Ongoing uplift processes make them susceptible to tectonic shifts, landslides, and soil erosion. 

Rapid population growth has also increased the demand for resources, intensifying stress on the environment. This has led to agriculture expanding into unsuitable areas, along with deforestation and road development, disrupting major river basins' hydrological cycles. This ecological crisis in the Himalayas threatens the entire region's life-support system, affecting both the environment and the economy of the adjacent Indian plains.
